Pinoy nurses and the UN-reliable agency

To all Filipino nurses who want to go to NZ, makinig kayo!!!

Sampu ng mga kasama ko ay naloko ng napakatamis na dila ng isang agency sa Pinas. Yung walking distance lang malapit sa Robinson, sa Ermita. Hindi naman illegal recruitment agency. Actually, we’re not illegally recruited but we were compelled to pay very high placement fee. Ang sabi nung una ay P150,000 tapos nung paalis na naging P180,000.Hindi naman sila ang magpapakapagod magpasok sa amin ng trabaho kundi ang principal sponsor na i-eendorsehan nila dito sa NZ.

Tapos pagdating namin dito sa NZ, magbabayad pa kami sa nag-finance namin sa Competency Course. Lumalabas....2 agency ang binayaran namin. Buti kung walang interes ang financing loan, eh 4% monthly.

Yung agency pa na yun na they call itself “reliable” insisted that fare got high. Lokohin ba naman kami na umaabot na P100,000 ang roundtrip ticket. Eh di naman kami tanga para hindi yun i-check sa mga ticketing office. Ang kademonyohan pa nito ay one way lang daw ang ticket namin though nakaprint sa e-ticket ay P100,000.

Hindi lang kami maka-react dahil 2 days na lang aalis na kami. Sabihan ka ba naman ng “ikaw ba gusto umalis at ang dami mong tanong.” How would you react? How could I when it was all prepared and ready for me to go in 2 days time?

After research and comparison with other nurses who have just applied direct to their principalor sponsor, I learned that we’re really cheated. Sonafabitch!!!

*This is just assumed if you’ll be studying in Manukau Institute but if in other school, it’ll be approx. P3000.


Kung mag-aapply ka direkta sa hospital, kailangan mong i-shoulder ang mga sumusunod:


*Competency course NZ$ 4,300 (P 142,000)
**Accomodation (backpackers/hostel) 1,100 for 2 months
***Transpo from airport to hostel 200
Expenses/food 1,500
Others/laboratory if ever 100
7,100 (P 234,300)

Plus NZ$ 280 for your working visa, IRD, variations


If you know someone from NZ, makisuyo ka na lang sa tirahan for 2months. Pumapatak kasi na $19/day. Maswerte lang kami siguro dahil marami kami kaya $100/week ang bayad ng principal sponsor namin sa tenant.

Now if you cannot afford the course, transpo, accomodation, might as well get a principal sponsor. NEVER APPLY ON ANY IMMIGRATION CONSULTANCY OR RECRUITMENT AGENCY IN OUR COUNTRY. Dahil ang principal sponsor LANG ang TANGING gagawa lahat for you. Sila ang maglo-loan sa’yo (of course may interest), magsusundo, maghahanap ng placement mo at maghahatid sa’yo kung saan ka titira near your work, mag-aasikaso ng change status ng visa mo from visiting visa to working visa at para makakuha ka ng working permit at variations (ito yung pwede kang mag-dble job). At hindi ang mga pesteng recruitment agency na ‘yan sa Pinas.
